How it works inside Ovantage Tax
If you’re here, you were likely referred by someone you trust. That’s how most of our client relationships begin.
We start with a short introductory call to understand your situation at a high level. This is a working conversation — not a sales pitch.
We’ll talk through where you’re at, where you’re going, and how we can support you.
If it makes sense to move forward, we’ll guide you through next steps. If not, we’ll say so. (We can also refer you to someone who can help.)
Step 1: Book an Intro Call
If we decide to work together, you’ll receive access to our secure client portal where we’ll ask for your prior year’s tax return and any relevant documents. This gives us a foundation to understand where you are now and what needs to be planned for — whether that’s tax prep, planning, or ongoing support.
Don’t worry — you’ll receive clear instructions and a short walkthrough so you know exactly how things work inside the portal.
Step 2: Initial Review + Next Steps
You’ll receive a proposal outlining scope, timeline, and pricing, along with an engagement letter and invoice.
Most services are paid upfront. Ongoing CFO services are billed monthly, which works well for clients making financial decisions throughout the year. If you need a payment plan, we can discuss that during our intro call.
Once everything is signed, onboarding officially begins.
Step 3: Proposal + Invoice
Once onboarding begins, you’ll receive a welcome email outlining the specifics of what we need from to get started and when. Preparation matters here — it’s what allows us to do high-quality work without last-minute stress.
We require a lead time before tax deadlines to avoid errors and unnecessary rush. If documents aren’t submitted in time, we’ll default to an extension. This approach keeps things accurate, calm, and sustainable for everyone involved.
You’ll also have the option to sign a limited power of attorney form so we can handle all communication with the IRS on your behalf. We’re here to protect your time.
Step 4: Onboarding + Prep
Once we have everything we need, we take it from there.
We handle the work, stay on top of deadlines, and manage the details. You stay informed, but the goal is for you to be fully hands-off. If you work with financial planners, attorneys, or other advisors, we’re happy to coordinate directly with them. Again, we’re here to protect your time.
When returns are complete, we’ll walk you through the results with a recorded overview so you can focus on what matters, not every line item.
Step 5: Delivery + Ongoing Support
Most clients continue working with us year after year. The first year often requires more setup to get things structured correctly, but that foundation makes everything easier going forward.
Our role is to maximize your wealth and protect your time by reducing friction, anticipate issues, and help you make financial decisions with clarity.
Step 6: Ongoing Partnership
We work fully digitally. If you’re looking to drop off paper documents or prefer in-person handoffs, we’re likely not the right firm for you.
A quick note on fit
If you value clarity, structure, and a modern approach to tax and accounting, you’ll feel at home here.
